Purpose: To increase interest in and to support mission endeavors which are a part of or in the interest of our Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod,
The Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society is an organization of WELS women who support and encourage mission endeavors of the WELS. Membership includes all women of our congregation. You are a part of LWMS!
Our Local LWMS is part of the Capitol Circuit, which includes about 15 congregations in the Madison area. We also hold membership in the National LWMS.
St. John’s LWMS meets each month on the third Tuesday evening at 7:00. We gather in member’s homes or at church. Check your bulletin or calendar for the place and join us. You’ll grow in faith as we study the Word with Pastor Adomeit, and you’ll grow in knowledge as we discuss the work missionaries are doing in places like Battlement Mesa, Co, or Chennai, India. Our conversations take us in many directions and we always have a good time. There’s coffee and something good to eat to finish the evening.
St. John LWMS supports missionaries at home and abroad, with prayers, cards and letters of encouragement. We also send financial gifts.
25% of our mission offerings are used for national projects chosen each year at the National Convention. 75% is directed to projects selected annually by our own Capitol Circuit.
We meet twice a year with other members of the Capitol Circuit at churches in the area.
The National Convention is held every year during the last week of June.
We support the African Medical Missions in Zambia and Malawi with annual gifts.
We serve our local congregation by hosting Lenten suppers and Sunday morning fellowships.
We provide WELS Historical Journals and Newsletters for our church library.
Use GoodSearch to access the internet and LWMS will earn 1 cent. If we all do this, it will add up to serious money which will be used for mission endeavors.
